Downers Grove School District

Downers Grove has twelve public elementary schools, two public middle schools, and two public high schools. District 58 has eleven elementary schools, including Hillcrest, Belle Aire, El Sierra, Kingsley, Fairmount, Highland, Whittier, Pierce Downer, Henry Puffer, Lester, Indian Trail Schools, and two middle schools Herrick and O’Neill Middle School. Center Cass District 66 consists of Elizabeth Ide School (grades K-2), Prairieview Elementary School (grades 3-5), and Lakeview Jr. High School (grades 6-8). Downers Grove also has two Catholic Schools, St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s of Gosytn.

Avery Coonley School is a private K-8 school, known for its math and science-oriented teaching as well as its focus on the arts and foreign language.

Downers Grove Community High School District 99 is home to Downers Grove North High School and Downers Grove South High School. They serve the entire community of Downers Grove and surrounding communities. Both high schools perform very well academically. District 99 posted an average ACT score of 23 in 2015, 2 points above the state average. They are both ranked amongst the top 100 high schools in Illinois.

Downers Grove is also the home of Midwestern University.

Downers Grove Library and Park District

The Downers Grove Public Library is known as one of the best in the region. In 2014, the 67,738-square-foot library underwent a renovation to add more study spaces, upgraded technology, improved WiFi, enhanced display of items, and added a cafe.

The award-winning Downers Grove Park District is home to seven parks, a 9-hole par-36 scenic golf course, a miniature golf course, disk golf, a fitness center, and nature centers.
