Ready to Get Spooked? The Haunted Forest Walk Is Back in Woodridge

Community News Melissa Mathis October 6, 2026

If you’re looking for a little Halloween excitement this fall, you don’t have to drive into the city or spend a fortune at a haunted attraction. One of Woodridge’s favorite Halloween traditions is right here in the community: the Haunted Forest Walk.

Hosted by the Woodridge Park District, the Haunted Forest Walk turns the outdoors into a spooky Halloween experience filled with creepy scenes, unexpected surprises and plenty of reasons to keep looking over your shoulder. And while it may be designed to scare you, there’s something pretty great about an event that brings the community together at the same time.

A Woodridge Halloween Tradition

The Haunted Forest Walk has been part of Woodridge's fall calendar for years. Local groups have participated by setting up and hosting scenes throughout the event, with proceeds shared with participating organizations. That community involvement is part of what makes the event different from your typical commercial haunted house. You're not just walking through a spooky attraction. You're experiencing an event that has become part of Woodridge's Halloween tradition. The Park District has continued to feature the Haunted Forest Walk as one of its signature fall events, with the 2025 event taking place October 24-25.

Bring Your Halloween Spirit... and Maybe Your Nerves

Let's be honest. Walking through a dark forest at night is already a little creepy. Add Halloween decorations, spooky scenes and people whose job for the evening is essentially to scare you, and things get interesting pretty quickly. It's the kind of event where you may start out laughing with your friends and end up grabbing onto the person walking next to you when something suddenly moves in the woods. And that's half the fun.

It's Another Reason to Love Fall in Woodridge

One of the things we love about living and working in the western suburbs is that fall isn't just about pumpkin patches and apple orchards. Communities like Woodridge have their own traditions that give residents something to look forward to year after year.

The Haunted Forest Walk is one of those events.

It brings neighbors together, gives local organizations an opportunity to participate and gives families, friends and Halloween fans something fun to do right here in town. So if you're making your fall bucket list, add this one to it.

Grab your friends. Bring the family. Wear something you don't mind getting a little dirty. And maybe leave the bravest person in your group in the front.

Because once you step into the Haunted Forest, you never know what's waiting around the next corner. For event dates, times, registration information and the latest details, check the Woodridge Park District event page before heading out.

And if you're lucky enough to make it through without screaming, we're impressed.

Happy Halloween, Woodridge!
