What’s Happening & When

Saturday, December 6 – Parade, Tree Lighting & Santa (Be sure to look out for Wenzel Select Properties during the parade!)

  • At 4:30 p.m., join the Westmont High School Choir at the Train Station Plaza for a community carol sing-along.

  • At 5:00 p.m. the parade travels south on Cass Avenue starting at Naperville Road, crosses the railroad tracks and turns west on Quincy Street. 

  • Immediately following the parade, gather at Addington Plaza on West Quincy Street for the official Tree Lighting ceremony. Afterwards, head back to the Westmont Train Station for free photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus & friends. 

More Holly Days Events You’ll Love

  • Tuesday, December 2 – Drop-In Craft at the Westmont Public Library (428 N. Cass Avenue). Create a wood ornament — one for you, one for the library’s Holly Days tree. Fun for families. 

  • Wednesday, December 3 – Songs of the Season (with a twist!) 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the library’s Youth & Teen Services. Award-winning vocalist Maureen Christine will be performing holiday favorites from the ’50s, ’60s & ’70s in a relaxed, sing-along format. 

  • Thursday, December 4 – Winter Watercolor Workshop 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at the library (adults). Create your own magical winter scene with local artist Mary Launi. 

  • Thursday, December 4 – Elf Tryouts 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Westmont Park District (75 E. Richmond Street). Kids (residents and non-residents) are invited to test their Santa-helper mettle, earn an Elf hat, and take a photo with Santa on his sleigh. Registration required. 

  • Friday, December 5 – “Snow Much Fun” Evening 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park (75 E. Richmond Street). Bounce house, mule-drawn wagon rides, community-decorated Christmas trees, s’mores by the Gregg House and a chance to meet Santa. 

  • Saturday, December 6 – WHS Band Booster Craft Show 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Westmont High School (909 Oakwood Drive). Nearly 200 crafters and artists, free parking, free admission – all supporting the band program. 

  • Saturday, December 6 – Meet & Greet Santa Food Drive 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall (25 N. Cass Avenue). Bring a donation to help the People’s Resource Center Food Pantry. 

  • Sunday, December 7 – Pancake Breakfast with Santa, Mrs. Claus & Rudolph 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Knights of Columbus Hall. Holiday show + photo op + delicious breakfast. 

  • December 8 – 12 – Santa Sleigh Visits Book a visit from Santa himself! Registered households will enjoy a private Santa stop at home with presents for the kids. Fees apply. 

  • Tuesday, December 9 OR Thursday, December 18 – Gift Tags & Bows Workshop At the library (adults). Learn to craft custom gift tags & bow decorations — materials provided, bring a gift if you like! 

  • Monday, December 15 – Cinnamon Stick Himmeli Ornament Workshop 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the library (adults). Make a decorative ornament inspired by Finnish design — crafted out of cinnamon sticks. 

  • Thursday, December 18 – Clay Gingerbread Man Workshop 4:15 – 5:00 p.m. at the library (grades K–5). Kids can sculpt and decorate their own gingerbread friend! 

  • Saturday, December 20 – Breakfast with Santa, Mrs. Claus & Rudolph 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Administrative Building (55 E. Richmond Street). Pancakes, coffee, cookies… and of course, Santa. 

  • Sunday, December 21 – Santa’s Train Ride Two sessions: 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. OR 1:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m. Leave from Westmont Train Station (18 W. Quincy Street) for a ride to visit Santa at the Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora. Includes breakfast, crafts, photos and festive fun. Registration required.
